The South African Post Office (SAPO) Shut Down

The south african post office (SAPO) shut down mail to and from Asia because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

No doubt the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has everyone in a state of panic. And with this announcement from the south african post office (SAPO), delivering and receiving mail from countries like China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Kuala Lumpur, might be delayed until such time that suitable arrangements can be made with the airlines. Packages that is meant for South Africa, will be delayed, but not lost.

Airlines are not allowed to fly in or out of these countries due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the risk of spreading the virus further.

As the union for the south african post office (SAPO) known as SAPWU, we request all of our members and fellow South Africans to take extra precaution during this time. Take the precautions as given by the Department of Health and the Health Minister.

Clean hands frequently with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water

Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow

Avoid close contact (1 metre or 3 feet) with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms
